DR coat of arms

DR coat of arms

The only national flag in the world with a Bible verse on it is the Dominican Republic (D.R.) flag. The coat of arms has a Bible with a small cross above it and said to be opened to the Gospel of John 8:32:

“And the truth shall make you free.”

The Dominican coat of arms is seen throughout the country. You can see it at the presidential palace, the police, the military and most coins and paper money!

DR Flag

Who is the author of this Bible verse? It’s Jesus! Don’t you want to know more about this author? Look at those words. What’s important about truth? Put aside all non-truth policies and seek to understand. What is truth? When Jesus was put on trial to be condemned, Pontius Pilate (the Roman Governor) said:

“What is truth?” And when he had said this, he went out again to the Jews, and said to them, “I find no fault in Him at all.  ~John 18:38

Is religion truth? No, it brings lots of disagreements and questions. Truth narrows down and it can be summoned up by Jesus’ teachings because He is truth!

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.  ~John 14:6

This John Bible study is-designed to help find truth! Won’t you join me?

  1. Great insight! The past two years I have made trips to the Dominican. It is clear that God is working on the Island!

  2. Blessings! I am dominican and live in the Dominican Rep. I just wanted to add that for believers ( specially non catholic Christians and Messianics) Some people say that the spears are like prophets that God will lift up from this nation to spread the Gospel in the end times. Some people refer to this as the “spearhead to the nations”many believe that from this nation great prophets and the redeemmed of the end times will arise to honor the Truth that sets us free.. Wich we all know its Yeshua( jesus)This is an expectation and a faith we all have. We are very aware that we are the only nation that honors the bible this way and we are certain that this has a true purpose in God. Receive blessings and protection from God.

    • If in coming face to face with God we accept Him in our lives, then we are converting. We become a better Hindu, a better Muslim, a better Catholic, a better whatever we are . What God is in your mind you must accept” (from Mother Teresa)

  3. Rev Brandenburg, the island nation of Puerto Rico has a coat of arms that goes back to the XVI Century. On it you can see a lamb, representing the lamb of God and the inscription ”Ioannes est nomem eju” (”John is his name”). This is in reference to the name Saint Jogn, first given to this caribbean island, later changed to Puerto Rico. Besides Santo Domingo, Puerto Rico does have a biblical symbol.

    • You are absolutely right! I believe, in my second study in the series of discipleship, I refer to the Puerto Rican coat of arms. John the Baptist referred to Jesus as the lamb of God that takes away the sins of the world. For some time, I carried the Puerto Rican coat of arms in my bible, as a visual, to show people as we were studying this chapter of John. Thank you!

      • During your Wednesday bible study you used to refer to the Dominican flag and the Puerto Rico coat of arms, at our local Chicago church.

Will the church have a 40th anniversary? It was formally organized on Thanksgiving day, 1974.
